In 2006 current club members Con Murphy, Kevin Halligan, Bartley Murphy & Ronan Darcy discussed the possibility of setting up a Manchester United Supporters Club in the Bagenalstown area. Although no action was taken in 2006 the seeds of the idea were sown.

In May 2007 Con Murphy set about organising a meeting to try and get the club up and running. The first step was to create a website, which could be used as a means of getting information across to a host of Manchester United fans who have access to the Internet. Once the website was up and running a letter of invitation to the inaugral meeting was posted out to over 60 known Manchester United fans in the locality. Although many genuine Manchester United fans did not receive a letter, those who did were urged to tell every united supporter they knew to come along. The first meeting was set for Monday 9th July at 8.00 pm in the Red Lion Lounge.

The inaugral meeting proved to be an outstanding success. The numbers in attendance surpassed all expectations. In all, 98 members signed up on the night. Many more phoned or emailed stating they were interested but could not attend but would join in the near future. Following a brief address by Con Murphy on what the club was about and where we saw ourselves going, an official committee was formed and the Bagenalstown Red Devils was established. Since the first meeting our numbers have swelled to over 240 members and is still growing.

On Sunday 16th December 2007, United legend Pat Crerand was unveiled as our new Honorary Club President. The club is both honoured and delighted to have such a legend as Pat associated with our club.

2009 turned out to be a special year for the club. The club have now been accepted as an "Official Manchester United Supporters Club" recognised by Old Trafford. This has taken the club to a new level and had also resulted in an increased membership. The club can now apply directly to Old Trafford for tickets and also receive many extra benefits as part of their new official status.
